    Getting Started

Your builder's log is a VERY IMPORTANT document. Please remember to backup your kitlog.mdb file regularly.

A project record must first be created before any information can be entered into KitLog Pro.

    Creating a Project Record

To create a project record, enter all your project information in the window titled Enter Project Information.
A registration number is required and must be entered. All the records in KitLog Pro refer back to this registration number. If you do not yet have a registration number enter an arbitrary number in that box. You will be able to change the registration number at a later date if necessary. Click the "OK" button to save the entry.
Note: You are required to enter this information only once. Any information added to this project will be attached to this initial project record that is created. Once you register KitLog Pro you will not be able to edit the Name field that is contained in the Owner section.

After the project record is created you will next see a window titled Aircraft Summary. This is where your project is stored. To add another project click the "New Project" button and repeat the directions above. To edit or delete an existing project click on the "Edit" or "Delete" buttons on the Aircraft Summary window.

In the weight and balance scenario section you may enter as many flight scenarios as you like. The FAA would like to see at least two. If the arm scenario you created is for fuel, click on the box titled Enable Fuel Calculations. Enter the type of fuel measurement (i.e. US gallons, imperial gallons, liters) and the number of units. When selecting imperial gallons or liters, you must enter the weight in kilograms for the calculation to be accurate. Click on the "Calculate" button and then the "OK" button. Repeat the same process for all arm scenarios. After all arms have been entered, click on the "OK" button and you will go back to the Weight and Balance window.

    Resources

KitLog Pro includes helpful documents which aid the builder during the inspection of the aircraft. Click on the Resources drop down box located on the main window. You will have three options to select from. These options include Certification, Federal Aviation Regulations, and Advisory Circulars. We strongly recommend that you first read FAA Advisory Circular 20-27D Certification and Operation of Amateur Built Aircraft. These two documents show examples of how forms need to be filled out. Note: In order to view these documents you must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. If you do not have Adobe Reader you can download it for free by visiting:

    http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html

The fields within the documents that you need to edit are created in a way that allow you to enter your information. When you have completed filling out a form you can print it.
Note: Make sure that the form is correctly filled out and printed before you close the document. You cannot save these documents with your information that has been entered. This is a limitation of the free version of Adobe Reader, not a limitation of KitLog Pro.
